Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd Announces New Shareholder

Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd, P.A., is pleased to announce the election of a new shareholder, effective January 1, 2009. Sarah P. Spruill, a litigation attorney, was named a member.

Sarah P. Spruill practices in the Ffirm’s litigation group in its Columbia office, working on business and commercial matters, and other complex litigation. She has represented businesses, governmental entities and individuals in a broad range of cases, and has handled numerous appellate matters.

The Cheraw, SC, native received her J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2000, where she was a member of the Order of the Coif; Order of Wig and Robe; and South Carolina Law Review. In 1997, she graduated from USC with a B.A., magna cum laude, with honors from the South Carolina Honors College.

Prior to joining the firm, Sarah spent two years as law clerk to The Hon. Kaye G. Hearn, Chief Judge for the South Carolina Court of Appeals.

Sarah is admitted to practice in South Carolina, the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. She is a member of the South Carolina and Richland County Bar Associations.

She volunteers for the Junior League of Columbia and Young Carolinians of the South Carolina Historical Society. She is active with her high school alma mater – the SC Governor’s School for Science & Mathematics – where she serves on the Alumni Association’s board of directors and is past board president.
